One Billion dollars. Ten games. Over one hundred million units sold. Forza Motorsport Seven is by far one of the biggest racing game franchises in the world, if not one of the biggest game franchises in the world. Turn10 have taken the racing game genre and just risen it to a whole new level. And with success comes excess. More cars, more pixels, more this, more that, just more.
These have long been a high point in all Forza games. The highly detailed pieces of work that turn10 churns out on a regular basis is astounding. Forza Horizon 3 had over 500 cars, each with fully view able interiors, and most of them with observable engines and other such compartments. Stunning. But when you have hundreds of highly detailed cars, cracks slip through. A big, bold, example of this was the 22b from Forza 5, and 6, and Horizon 2 and 3. The car, although was legendary, was poorly animated. I don’t really know how to describe it but… Hmmm… It just looked… Bad… There are plently of other examples of this, although there are some beautiful stand outs. The Ford GT is an example of how good this game can look. Good news though, the 22b is getting a complete reworking! Although some cars in the new, coming title will probably feature the same, choppy design from fm5. Let’s hope they don’t.
Ah, Forza has legendary tracks. Maple Vally, Fuji Kaido, and many many more. The team at Turn10 can pump out great, not real tracks. Honestly, every new game brings a new, beautiful, track. Well, did I mention that they tend to not be fun? Once the Xbox one era came, the new tracks became wide, tarmac filled, no grass, boring tracks that just are filled with Meh racing… In FM7, the amount of tracks are laughable. Track list? Nah, just add two more tracks than Forza 6 had and you get Forza 7. Crap. This is turning to a rant.
Graphics are everything. Well, that’s what microsoft seems to think, as there is a extreme quality enhancement. The tracks, bam four k, the cars, FOUR K, the dlc, Premade and FOUR K. Golly, they’re really pushing this 4k stuff, and, in all honesty, if they focused on more tracks and fixing the gosh darn AI, the game could be much better. I, in my own opinion, refuse to buy Forza 6 again, and then get all the DLC, and then the season pass, then the expansion pass, and so on and so on and so on. You just know that this game is going to have the Forza tradition of day one DLC. Disgusting. Anyways, I can’t think of any more things to write and over all…
Oh golly gee. Forza is a great game franchise but, in all honesty, better graphics and more DLC aren’t going to make me want to buy a new game. I’ll be looking forward to Project Cars 2, need for speed, GT sport and heck, what else is coming out. The blog posts are back! Anyways, I hope you enjoyed this semi rant, tell me your opinions!
